Iomega Automatic Backup Pro 3.3
Just set up a new windows 7 64 bit system. When I try to run 'set up backup' I get a window that says 'starting windows backup - please wait while windows backup starts,' but nothing ever happens.
Just hangs on that. If I x out, it changes to 'canceling'and hangs on that. When I ultimately go to task manager to end it, it says not responding.I just want to set up an automatic backup to an external drive nightly, but I can't seem to get to step one. Anyone else haveing this issue?Thanks.P.S. Hi warmen92,a.
Do you have any third-party backup utility or system maintenance tool installed on the computer, by chance? If yes, you may have to the same and then try running the backup and check what happens.Additionally, you can try running the backup by putting the computer in aclean boot state.Putting your system in clean boot state helps in identifying if any third party applications or startup items are causing the issue. If yes, you may have to contact the program manufacturer for any updates or uninstall and re-install the program.Refer the following Microsoft KB article for more information on how to troubleshoot a problem by performing a clean boot in Windows Vista or in Windows 7:How to troubleshoot a problem by performing a clean boot in Windows Vista or in Windows 7Note: After troubleshooting, make sure to put the computer to start as usual as mentioned inStep 7 in the above KB article.Additionally, running a System File Checker (SFC) scan has fixed backup issues caused bysdclt.exe. SFC tool scans system files and replaces incorrect versions of the system files by using the correct versions.Refer the following Microsoft article for more information on using SFC tool:How to use the System File Checker tool to troubleshoot missing or corrupted system files on Windows Vista or on Windows 7Hope this helps.Gokul - Microsoft SupportIf this post was helpful, please click the 'Vote as Helpful' (green triangle) button.

Iomega Automatic Backup Pro 3.3 Review
I do have another backup program installed - Iomega Automatic Backup Pro. I had that on my old xp system, and it transferred when I transferred to the new windows 7 system. The problem is that it doesn't work withwindows 7 (which is why I am trying to use windows backup.) I tried to uninstall it, but a window opens that says 'preparing to uninstall,' and it just hangs at that - also not responding. I guess since the program doesn't work with windows 7, neither doesthe uninstall - or maybe it can't find the uninstall log. Is there a way to locate the actual executable that will uninstall Iomega Automatic Backup Pro?
Iomega Backup Software
Or some other way to uninstall it?BTW, I tried Clean Boot and had the same problem even with ALL startup items AND services disabled (other than microsoft services and anti virus - I could not disable antivirus). Also tried the system check and found no problems.ThanksMore Info: I booted in diagnostic mode and tried to uninstall. After activating Windows Installer, I tried to uninstall Automatic Backup Pro. Instead of hanging, I got 'The InstallScript engine on this machine is older than the version required to runthis setup. If available, please install the latest versio of ISScript.msi.' So I think the ISScript.msi file is probably newer than that required, not older, but either way the installer doesn't recognize it. Is there a way to uninstall with xp scripts?
