Hard to say in the case of Weiss's hair. Maybe if the picture showed Weiss facing forward so we could only see her back and hair like the picture that it is compared to.As for the beowulves, aren't those the alpha versions? The ones that never ever got used after the very first trailer? As for the case of Ruby's boots, come on, tons of Elegant Gothic Lolitas have that same boot design, there's no copyright for those things. That's like saying X is stealing from Y because both have a character with a denim skirt. Plagiarism is a term for writing, not stealing models.2.
It's actually not wholly unknown that the RWBY crew bought some models in volumes 1 and 2. In fact, Monty bought models for the Paladin in volume 2 and (I think?) the giant robot in the Black Trailer. Plus, Poser Pro also has a library of free-to-use models you can download. It's entirely possible that they bought and downloaded models from legal sources, and the people who used some of those models also used those same legal sources.3. That Weiss one is not an exact match by a longshot.Ruby's boots look similar to Amy's boots, but it may not be a ripped model.
Y'know, I'd actually go on Tumblr and point this stuff out, but I really don't feel like dealing with the inevitable fallout of the. More passionate userbase reacting negatively to it.Basically, overall.Did Montecore make those hair models? If yes, then maybe Monty did take the Yang hair model, but I don't think he took the Weiss hair model. It looks vaguely similar but nowhere near close enough. It's such a generic spiral ponytail that I've seen someone accuse RT of getting Weiss' ponytail from an entirely different model. Those Beowolves only appear in the Red Trailer, and the Red Trailer was made solely by Monty. No one else had a hand in the Red Trailer's creation, aside from Jeff Williams making Red Like Roses. Monty made it himself, on his own, originally as a proof of concept to get Matt and Burnie's approval to make RWBY.
Then, he had Jeff make RLR and made edits and adjustments to the Proof of Concept version to create the Trailer version. So, if the Red Trailer Beowolves are ripped Skyrim werewolf models, that's on Monty, not Rooster Teeth, especially if the rest of Rooter Teeth didn't know. The boots are generic gothic lolita boots. Tall boots with laces that go all the way up, with an ankle strap to both look cool and keep the boot from slipping around while walking or running. I don't think that's a ripped model.
If anything, Monty looked at Amy's boot as a reference for parts he was having trouble with (the folds in the back of the ankle). Hell, Ruby's boots in her Slayer outfit are also generic gothic lolita boots.Monty had a tendency to base articles of characters' outfits on actual clothes and shoes you can buy in real life, so it'd be easier for the cosplayers. Like I said in my previous post: Sun's shoes, Blake's Intruder pants, Weiss' SnowPea dress, Neptune's jacket (iirc, he had a blue one), etc.Rooster Teeth has actually legally bought models before.
The volume 2 Paladin is one of the models they bought. A user has actually linked to the website where you can buy it before.
Poser Pro has models you can download for free and use however you wish. The new points in this post that weren't mentioned before in this thread:. Maybe Monty took Yang's hair model, but I really doubt he took Weiss', especially considering I've seen someone accuse them of taking Weiss' ponytail from an entirely different model altogether. It's a generic spiraling ponytail. If the Red Trailer Beowolf models are just ripped, recolored Skyrim werewolf models, then that's on Monty, not Rooster Teeth, especially if RT didn't know.

Monty made the Red Trailer on his own, aside from the song Red Like Roses. The Red Trailer was originally a proof of concept he showed to Matt and Burnie, then made adjustments to, to turn it into a trailer and line it up with the song Jeff made (Red Like Roses). If anything, Monty could've used Amy's boots as a reference on how boots are supposed to look, for parts he was having trouble with (like the folds in the back of the ankle). Like I said before, it's probably easier to just mimic MMD's style of turning 2D anime style into 3D, for the face.
Those eyelashes are not exactly the same, but definitely mimicked.Let me ask: Did the person who made the rabbit girl MMD model make that hair model themselves? If they did, then yes, Velvet's hair model may have been stolen. They probably figured it wouldn't be a big deal since she was only intended to be in two episodes for a couple minutes and then disappear forever. Though, even if it's for a couple minutes, it's still stealing. When throwing these accusations around, you have to ask: This model I saw somewhere else - did the person who posted a picture of it make that model piece themselves, or did they get it somewhere else legally? Because Rooster Teeth legally bought models and legally downloaded free models for some things. They bought the volume 2 Paladin, like I keep saying.I have to wonder, if the early RWBY character models are cobbled together from MMD models, then why did Monty go with that instead of using the earlier models that had been made?
For example, Ruby and Adam.
