E36 Heat Shield Template

Hey all,I am really interested in putting some sort of cai system in my '95 325is. I 've read the threads about the ones off ebay and it seems like the general impression is that they can be really decent. However, I live in Michigan and I'm a little concerned about the possibility of hydrolock with lotsa snow and rain.So I'm either gonna buy one off ebay or do a completely custom fab job from odd hardware bits and a K&N that keeps the filter up in the engine bay and out of the wet stuff. If I fab it up I'd obviously want a heat shield.Does anyone have a template or drawing they could scan that shows the dimensions of the aluminum peice they used for a heat shield?Second?: Where could I get a waterproof sock(?) that some of the other kits use. I might use that with one of the ebay kits to keep out water. Heat resistant paint/resin) that you coat the heatshield with, as well as if you have adequate airflow into the heat-quarantined area. Ive never made a heat shield, but i used to have a pretty nice heatshield/short ram intake setup by EuroSportACC on my Jetta. After running th car hard, i would feel both sides of the heat shield, as well as the air temperatures (using the hand-thermometer ). I noticed a considerable difference. As long as you can seal off the filter from heat soak, and rig some way to get cold air from say under the bumper up to the intake, you should be good.

A friend rigged a heat shield for my sister's 2.0 protege and i rigged some intake tubing down to behind the driver foglight in the bumper. Its nice!oO n btw, i have templates for a heat shield for a 318.

Not sure if it will fit work for any of the 32? I can email it to any of you just the same though. Let y'all expirement with it. Alright so that is Carb328, RTG///M3, and JFRO996.

Could the rest of you guys pm me your email addresses. Or better yet if you want it, put your email on here. Ok the template is in a powerpoint format. When you print it out, the size of the printing is supposed to be the exact size of the parts.

I have never printed it out so it could be a little off, but the intake tube is a 3' diameter so if you could figure out the ratio of the tube measurements in comparison to 3', you should be able to do it. But i was told it was the correct size so u shouldnt have to.
